CROWDFUNDING TAKES OFF: Two members of 85 Broads just raised $600,000 to fund the launch of their companies on Kickstarter!
Sylvia Marino, Co-founder of Bia Sport, recently raised over $400,000 on Kickstarter for her GPS Sports Watch. Amazingly, $100,000 in pledges were made in the last 24 hours of the 40-day campaign. According to a recent Wired.com article, Bia's execution on Kickstarter was the “poster-child” for the four key elements defined in a recent study of successful Kickstarter campaigns.
Monisha Perkash, Co-founder and CEO of LUMOback, also launched a successful campaign on Kickstarter to raise funds for a smart posture sensor. Monisha's original goal of $100,000 was raised in a matter of days and they are very close to doubling their goal! According to Monisha, Kickstarter has served as a great opportunity to "test market" demand and to get real, unbiased feedback.
