A Documentary about Women Entrepreneurs
SHE MEANS BUSINESS is a documentary about Women Entrepreneurs. As entrepreneurs themselves, 85 Broads members Elizabeth Dell (Producer) and Jackie Baptist (Executive Producer) were amazed at how rarely the media tells stories of women entrepreneurs. We create businesses… and those businesses are how families get fed; how colleges are paid for; how mortgages are covered…sometimes for a person, an extended family, or even an entire town!
The film will show honest portrayals of human experience, focusing on four to six early-stage and/or transitioning woman-owned businesses, following their successes, failures, struggles, concerns, disasters, and miracles. Through the lens of these specific individuals and experiences, the documentary will explore key issues such as similarities/differences in female-led versus male-led companies; women’s access to capital and entrepreneur training / business skills; and successes and strategies of woman-led businesses.
In tackling these issues, SHE MEANS BUSINESS will also include stories of successful women entrepreneurs, academic perspectives, policy and advocates for women entrepreneurs, venture capitalists and investors, and more – hoping to portray the full spectrum of people involved in the creation of successful women-owned businesses and women entrepreneurs. There is an incredible array of high-powered women already supporting. See a full list here.
SHE MEANS BUSINESS is starting its own journey, raising funds for the documentary through Kickstarter. We are delighted to help Elizabeth and Jackie get the word out about their documentary. They hope you will get involved and tell family, friends and supporters to get involved too!
