From HBS to Moscow: Katrin Buckenmaier, CEO & Co-Founder, Travelmenu
Travelmenu
was founded by Nina Pogossova (Harvard MBA 2005) and is now headed
up by Katrin Buckenmaier, her Harvard classmate and 85 Broads
member. Online outbound travel in Russia is still in its
earliest stages, but growing rapidly and is expected to reach
more than $7 billion by 2015. As one of the first movers in the
space, Travelmenu is today the only Russian e-travel company,
where the traveller can buy airline tickets, hotel accommodations
and package holidays all in one place. Since receiving
early stage financing in May 2011, Travelmenu's Gross Booking
Value has grown dramatically and the company is on track for break-even
in 2013. Travelmenu has just kicked off its latest fundraising
efforts with a view to close a $8-10 million Series B round by

Spears intelligently traces the epidemic to its disparate, and decidedly domestic, roots — among them the way children are educated about sex, and the problem of raising awareness about a crime that inherently cannot be shown.
